We have a fully equipped dental unit for cats and dogs. For pets over the age of seven, pre-anesthetic blood work is performed to evaluate liver and kidney values prior to anesthesia. An intravenous catheter is placed and fluids are administered during all procedures. Heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and temperature our monitored throughout the anesthetic procedure. A special heater, called a bear hugger, is used to maintain body temperature. This protocol allows for safer anesthesia and faster recovery.

If necessary all teeth are radiographed with our digital dental radiology unit. Radiographs allow for visualization of the teeth below the gum line and catch potential problems that cannot be identified with the naked eye. Following radiology, the teeth are cleaned and polished and any teeth are removed if necessary. Most, if not all, animals that undergo a dental procedure will be released the same day from the hospital and allowed to recover at home. Post dental care instructions will be contained in a hand out and sent home with you. We are of course always available to answer any questions or concerns.
